Irish Craft Beer Bars

Brewbot

When you think of Irish beer, Guinness tends to come to mind. However, Ireland has much more to offer the beer enthusiast, thanks largely to its thriving craft beer industry. There are just shy of 100 craft breweries on the Emerald Isle and a further fifteen brewpubs producing a wide range of delightful ales and lagers.

Dublin

Dublin is home to hundreds of great pubs and bars. These days, an increasing number of them stock craft beer.
* The Porterhouse – this ale utopia is situated in Temple Bar and is the beating heart of craft beer in the city. It has the longest bar for miles around.
* The Black Sheep – a Galway Bay Brewery pub with many rotating craft beers on tap and a huge range of bottled beers.
* J.W. Sweetman – a brewpub serving its own fantastic beers as well as craft beer cocktails and international brews.

Belfast

BrewbotBelfast is certainly not lagging in the craft beer stakes. There are seven craft breweries in and around Northern Ireland’s capital, including:

* Brewbot – this “modern long hall” style bar has 12 taps and is the place in Belfast to try local and foreign craft beers.
* Bittles Bar – uniquely wedge shaped, this characterful bar offers great music and a superb selection of beers from Ireland and abroad.

Galway

Home to two fantastic micro breweries, Galway Hooker and Galway Bay, this vibrant city has a lively craft beer scene.
* Oslo Bar – home of the Galway Bay Brewery. With 20 taps, this large brewpub offers the widest range of Irish, British and international craft beers in the area.
* Salt House – also owned by the Galway Bay Brewery, this traditional, cosy pub maintains 21 taps and a cask engine.

Out of Town

Outside of the larger cities are the following bars:
* The Roadside Tavern, Lisdoonvarna (near the cliffs of Moher) – a small, traditional pub serving great food and its own beer.
* Larkins, Portroe, Tipperary – a charming, old-style pub that houses the White Gypsy Brewery.
* Matt Molloy’s, Westport, Mayo – traditional music most nights and great local beers from the West Mayo Brewery.
